CPD ACTIVITY
What are the CPD Activities?
A range of formal and non-formal activities will be recognized toward meeting the CPD requirements.
They include all activities that enhance professional competences and lead to better delivery of medical laboratory services such as;
1. Attending workshops, seminars, or conferences
2. Online courses or webinars
3. Publishing or presenting research
4. Participating in professional committees or working groups
5.Hands-on training or specialized clinical rotations
Self-directed learning (e.g., reading scientific journals) and etc as indicated in activities categories of HLPC CPD guideline of August 2022
These activities are usually required by professional regulatory Councils to maintain and renew licenses or registrations .
Activities that do not qualify as CPD
01.Time spent planning, organizing, or facilitating any activity
02.Non-referenced letters to the editor of accredited journals
03.Routine laboratory works
04.Written assignments
05.Compilation of student training manuals for internal use
06.Staff and/or administrative meetings
07.Tours and/or viewing of exhibits and technological demonstrations
08.Membership in professional bodies
09.Meetings arranged by Laboratory supplies and companies and manufacturers or importers of products and technical devices (including assistive device technology) or their representatives purely for the purpose of marketing and/or promoting their products are not eligible for recognition.
10.If it is in your Job description/Terms of Reference (TOR)
11.Activity conducted by nonqualified CPD provider
12.Class lectures
13.Mandatory Health and Safety Training.
14.Product promotional meetings
15.Training that does not meet CPD requirements.
